The Talkeetna Public Library’s Reading Mentors program started back up last week and will continue through the end of November. The program is a collaboration between the library, Friends of the Talkeetna Library and the school. Every Tuesday, a handful of elementary kids skip the school bus home and instead ride the Sunshine Transit to meet with a mentor at the library. Talkeetna’s Village Park restroom is due soon for a new ADA-accessible sidewalk and landscape remediation around the facility. The park restrooms have received several improvements over the years, including the installation of new toilets in April 2024 with the help of Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) funding. Borough Parks Outdoor Recreation Specialist Brian Robison said the initial funding was not enough to carry out all aspects of the plan. Robison said a second round of CIP funding in 2025

The annual Talkeetna Trail Race was held last weekend in Talkeetna. 190 participants lined up at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge and finished their journey at the Denali Arts Hangar. Three races of varying distances were held simultaneously. 49 runners participated in the 25K race. Luke Steele placed 1st overall with a time of 2 hours and five seconds.
